Compare Your Options

When you hire a Solicitor, you are typically paying for two professionals. The Solicitor who manages your case and the Barrister who does the specialist work. With Direct Access, you pay only for the Barrister. Here is what that looks like in practice.

Pricing Questions

How much does a Direct Access Barrister cost?
Fees vary by case complexity and Barrister experience. Indicative ranges start from £750 for written advice and from £1,500 for a one day court hearing. Every Barrister on our platform provides a fixed fee quote before you commit, so you know exactly what you will pay.
When do I need to pay?
Payment is made securely through our platform before work begins. For larger matters, some Barristers may agree to staged payments tied to specific milestones. This can be discussed when you receive your quote.
Are there any hidden costs?
No. The quote your Barrister provides covers the agreed scope of work. If additional work is needed beyond the original scope, for example an extra hearing day, your Barrister will provide a separate quote for your approval before proceeding. You are always in control of costs.
Can I get quotes from multiple Barristers?
Yes. When you submit your case through our platform, you can receive quotes from multiple Barristers for comparison. Each quote includes the Barrister's experience, specialism, and price for the agreed work.
What if my case is more complex than expected?
Your Barrister assesses the complexity when reviewing your case details. If they believe the work will exceed the initial quote, they will discuss this with you before you commit. Any additional fees require your explicit agreement.
Can I cancel my instruction?
Yes. If you need to cancel, any fees for work not yet undertaken can be refunded. Specific cancellation terms are agreed with your Barrister before work begins.
Do you accept legal aid?
No. Direct Access work through our platform is privately funded only. If you believe you may be eligible for legal aid, we recommend checking the government's legal aid eligibility calculator.
